Tiffin’s by Chef Korn, MidValley Megamall

Tiffin’s by Chef Korn, MidValley Megamall

Tiffin carrier, the stack layer containers made for food consumption. Those days there were no plastic containers. So, we all live with the metal bowl, cost saving, reusable, less pollution. Sounds great? It usually comes with 3 or 4 layers. Some with colorful drawing design, some just plain simple without colors. Don’t be surprise you could find some ancient 11 layers for “display only” in Penang Blue Mansion.

Well, lets start our food.

Green Curry. Chef’s version of green curry. Serve with Thai Sausage and salted egg (Seafood RM23.80) Pork RM19.80. Combo 26.80 (Seafood with pork). We took the seafood version with cuttle fish and prawn. Curry was thick coconut milk (santan) smells really good. Perfect with rice.

Sour Curry with crispy pork belly RM19.80. Oh my, its really sour for me.

Side dish = Boxing chicken, Simple salad, 2 slices of watermelon

Other dishes in the menu, deep fried marinated chicken wings (6pieces) RM14.80, mango 18.80, papaya 16.80, seafood salad 23.80 and others which I can’t remember.

BIG = Ben’s Independent Grocer IPC

IPC used to be name Ikano Power Centre. I .. I … I.. they are actually under the same family as Ikea. They got their place renovated. Today we won’t be able to talk about the whole IPC but just BIG = Ben’s Independent Grocer. Located on LG1.19

What’s in there? Check out their map. Groceries goes on with cheese, dairy, seafood, butchery all the meats, condiments range from spices to herbs, vegetables, booze, ice cream, bakery, etc. etc. et cetera, et cetera, et cetera! Their goods not just local but imported yummies!

Check out their old weighing machine for display only.

Let us start with something simple. Salmon belly in a box. Ready to eat as appetizer and comes with your tiny pack of soy sauce and wasabi.

Cooked and ready to eat! Let go over to the “order here”.

Beef Lasagna (RM20.00). Hot sizzling from the oven sides with some garden salad. Oh its really super hot from the oven and delicious! careful with the hot plate.

Grocer’s Kitchen promotion only valid in October 2017 with 10% off for the handtossed pizzas. Thin crust pizza with mushroom truffle oil, really smells good! The cheesy pepperoni pizza looks really red but it taste as delicious as it looks.

Next, the quarter roast chicken with 1 side dish (RM20.00), you can choose chicken wing or the drumstick. Side dishes, mash potato or sweet corn? The gravy is separated, which is really good idea to avoid making the whole dish looks like some messy food.

Shucked, Oyster, oyster! Another opening promotion, buy 3 free 1! But this is only for tiny Tragheanna Bay oyster from Ireland 3 pieces for RM30.00/ 1 dozen (12 pieces) for RM100.00.

For the drinks, booze or coffee? Independent Coffee is having opening promotion, buy 2 cups for 1 price. Coffee it is then! If you are still not full enough, you still can have a piece of cake from Independent Coffee.

From the bakery, we picked this pastry bread with salted egg stuffing. Taste normal, nothing to shout about. Walk further down from bakery, you could see their huge oven.

I love Pho Kuala Lumpur, Vietnamese cuisine. Unfortunately, I forgot to snap a good picture for this. A Bowl of hot chicken soup with koay teow aka flat rice noodle shredded chicken meat.

Worried on how to get there? There are shuttle buses from Kelana Jaya LRT Station to IPC (9.00am – 10.30pm).

Well, if you are not near to Kelana Jaya station, you may still get the public transportation.

Yu Noodles Damansara Uptown

The shop is located amongst many shops. Not easy to see spot at a glance unless you know what you are looking for else try to look for the 2 huge red Chinese lanterns hanging outside their shop.

They will greet you well and seat you. Almost like self service order as you need to write down your own order on a slip of paper. Then call them to key in your order.

What’s the menu. They have rice vermicelli noodles comes with 2 sizes of noodles. The thick which is called “Mee Xian” and the thin like the normal vermicelli. The thick noodle looks like asam laksa noodle but not transparent. Next, pick your soup base. You can have plain clear broth or Tom Yam.

Tom Yum Fu Zhou Fish Ball Noodle. RM15.90. Tom Yam is the spicy and sour soup base. Few pieces of Chinese lettuce along with the Fu Zhou Fishball (Bursting Meatball Fishball) means fishball wrapped with meat inside. There is a reason why they call it bursting meatball. Beware, when you bite it, the juice will burst out and might burn your mouth. The taste of the meat inside wrapped with the fish ball was delicious. It has a nice fragrant and taste, I can’t describe what taste it is probably a mixture of sesame oil and some other condiments.

Another order is the noodles with clear soup and pork ball.RM9.50. If you feel the clear broth is abit boring, you may add some Chinese wine. The bottle is placed on your table. Pour at your own risk. Since we are here, no harm done adding another plate of deep fried squid ball. RM12.50. Nice orange golden squid ball. Delicious!

After all the spicy and sour soup. Time to clear off with a cup Honey Chrysanthemum RM3.20. If what I mentioned above here not to your liking. They have other things on the menu such as pork slice,  japanese scallops. clams, prawn, dumplings.
