New York New York Departmental Store - Taiwan

Not far away from Taipei 101, there is another place call New York New York, but guess what, it’s not the state New York next door in Taipei City?? It is actually a Departmental Store. Far right outside the entrance there is a statue of Liberty. How is it not call New York?

Let’s have a cuppa Starbucks coffee or a stone cold ice-cream?

The so called New York department at 12 sung shou Road, Taipei City 110, has a Chinese restaurant. Went over for a lunch Dim Sum. Have some congee aka porridge, flour roll with some prawn inserts of some marinated mince pork, we call the pork char siew and a few other items. As you can see the environment is cozy with some chandelier decorated on the ceiling. Right at the front with a tiny stage with 2 hearts shape. This means this restaurant does cater for some love birds. What I meant love birds here is not some romantic date for 2. It is for wedding dinners. Lovely, make your bookings.

Unfortunately, recently, I heard this building no longer exist, its been renovated and its now call ATT 4 fun. I did a search online, I did found in wiki, it did mention that ATT 4 Fun (信義) is formerly known as New York New York (紐約紐約). This new place comes with everything from restaurants to shopping and clubbing too. How about that? Sounds good too right? How sure? I am not sure but if you have friends in Taiwan, you could check with them.

Taipei 101 - Taiwan

This is one famous building, who has not heard of it, please raise your hand. It was one of the tallest buildings many years ago. Looks like some sort of Pagoda doesn't it? Before it was named Taipei 101 was Taipei World Financial Centre. It’s a green building, not because the building is green but the meaning was about the design of building for environmental architecture. It was said it was designed to withstand typhoons and earthquakes for such a high building. Fantastic is it not?

It seems, Taipei 101 has got 101 floors above ground and 5 floors underground. Doesn’t it mean it has 106 levels? Why not call it 106 instead? Never mind that, it was named 101, and 101 it is then.
Here are some pictures of the day view and also the night view of Taipei 101 building.

There are restaurants and has a large food court inside, many variety, from local cuisine to Japanese to English and others. I am sorry but I forgot to snap a photo for you. It was really packed with people queuing up for their food. I was busy deciding what I could try out and queuing for food.

Cuisine Wine Cigar Jazz - Taiwan

Cuisine Wine Cigar Jazz

This will be a relaxing place with food and music, its environment was with cozy dim lights. Fine dining, everything is fine as in small portion and served dish by dish.

It was about 800NTD not inclusive of tax for total 13 dishes
Tomato wrap seaweed
Chill Beef with Goji Berry
Bamboo shoot

Drunken chicken, chicken is not drunk, it is just cooked with Chinese wine
Yau tioa prawn (a type of fried flour)
Beef ribs with sesame seed
Soft shell crab
Pork belly
Seafood tofu
Asparagus with pistachio and bamboo pith

Mushroom soup
Sweet Dessert
Fruit

The food looks really small portion but after having so many small portions, turns out your stomach is already fill up. With such great ambience, romantic dim lights, seems like so comfortable that I was going to fall asleep. Wait a minute, here comes the lady and saxophone performance. No sleeping now, far awake now to listen to this performance as I have never seen any saxophone guy. Now is the chance to see him blowing with all his soul. Marvelous. Let us just lay back on the comfortable sofa seat and sell your soul out. Enjoy!

Computex Nangang Taiwan

Another year computex was held in Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall. Look at all the booth with their gadgets and people walking around. After your long walk in the hall, don’t you feel your hunger?

There was a fast food chain call Mr. Brown. After ordering and paying for my food, they gave me a rectangle box but not my food. Where is the food? I had no idea what it was at first, but I observed that everyone had one after making their payment and they just walk away to their seats. Instead of asking the cashier, I did what others do. Just take the rectangle box and walk away. Later I was told by my friends that this red gadget is a beeper. About 5 minutes later, the beeper starts to vibrate. It went buzzing.. ZzZzZzzZz ZzzZzzZzZz. It means my food is ready and I should go to the collection counter to collect my order. Well, it was my first time having a beeper, deep in me I felt I had just came out from a jungle.

World Trade Centre, how do we get there? I took a train to Xinyi Station, walked through the Xinyi Shopping District and reach the hall in about 20 minutes. They were shops selling branded items at the Xinyi Shopping District and also some street stalls. Walking pass a stall with some cartoon character figures, kitty, Garfield, sponge bob, CJ7 and others. It was so adorable and I snap the photos of it and did not notice the signboard of “no photography”. Oopps.. I apologise for it. I quickly took huge steps and walk away. Snacking time, there were many stalls selling snacks such as vermicelli. I bought some colorful sweet potatoes balls.

What is women’s’ favorite? Yes, diamonds and rings, but that is over my budget. Stalls selling hair accessories were along the street. So I pick up some, look at the some I meant in the picture, it is just 10 altogether.

Computex Taipei - TICC

Computex is one of the biggest computer exhibition I have ever been in Asia. Many people from all over the world attend this exhibition, from businesses users to personal users to see new inventions and new products. Even if you are not an IT savvy person, you still can scout around for many interesting items from latest laptops, personal computers, touchscreen panels, motherboards, graphic cards, mouse and numerous IT products. What more if you are a journalist? I guess you can’t stop writing for a few days.

This year was held in Taipei International Conventional Centre at Hsin Yi Road. While walking around, I saw a few balloon statues. A huge purple puppy and little cute football guy. Going on next is the Keynote, this time was e2 Forum, keynote speech by Intel. On the stage they invited a few children to use their new laptops. Questions were asked and the children were supposed to answer them using the laptops.
