Taipei Fisherman Wharf

The LOVE Bridge..............
There is a bridge here, for walking only, its call the valentine’s bridge. It is said that if couples walk together from one end to the other, they will live happily ever after for their relationship. Thats why its called the LOVE Bridge. What say you? Want to try it out?
Waterfront Restaurant is a place near the bridge, served the common soup in the bread. Pork Knuckle, yes, this was a delicious dish. You should try it if you happen to be there. The Pork skin was really crispy, real good but you will feel guilty after having this. But its worth it. Fish fillets, deep fried with batter in strips, its nice when its still served warm. But I left it too long as I was too busy chewing on the pork knuckle. End up, the fish turned abit soggy.

Taipei Shilin Night Market 1

Shilin Night Market
Its one of the most famous night market , where many tour busses would drop off their tourist here. They have food & snack stalls, kiddie games stalls & etc. The super red attractive snack, fruit candy. The fruits are soaked with sugar, some are grapes, strawberries. Well I chose strawberries. Ohh..its really really sweet, infact, you can’t taste the strawberry anymore… its just so sweet.. The stick is sticky as well, so remember to wrap it up before you hold it.
This stall looks odd with frog picture on it. My first impression when I saw the frog picture, is it frog eggs *tadpoles? Bought one, no tadpoles nor is there anything swimming inside. It consist of some bubble flour with some tea & jelly. It’s a cold drink, not too bad.

The stew intestines, stomachs & taufoo, abit salty with some special sauce, probably soy sauce with something else. But its nice too, worth a try.

Lastly, the buttons snack, its flour wrapped up with some red bean. I tried them, not sweet, but its chilled cold.

Taipei Wulai Glimpse

Into scenery? Well here is the stream river, the air is refreshing with a cooling weather. Absolutely good. They have the Ulay waterfall which you could see while you take the cable car up up to Yun Hsien Park. How about the wulai log cart? But it was under construction during my visit. Just too bad, another option, you may follow another guide, which knows every bit about the place, our huge Mr.Snail crawling its way on the streets.

Taipei Wulai Dinner

In for another snack? orange is the deep fried prawns & white, is the tiny fishes with some salt. Nice snack.

For dinner, first dish, fried prawns & fish stir fried with some herbs, second was wild vegetables, hand pick in the jungle. Third, soupy vermicelli with some wild picked vegetable & shredded mushrooms, very light indeed.

Taipei Ximen Ting 1

Ximen Ting, easy access by their train, clothes shops & food restaurant available. Vermicelli (min sin) with oyster, this comes with intestines as well. Another famous dish in Taiwan,  It was pack, everyone was queing up for the bowl, others were standing along the pavement eating their way, well that includes me…

Whats that in the stick? its the stinky taufoo, if you are afraid, this stall is a good start for stinky taufoo beginners, the smell is not strong.

Stone cold ice cream, I wonder what is so great about this, the que was about 20 people while I was there, from inside the shop till out on the streets. Must be good, don’t you think so? I had my share of cause, how could I miss out a 20 person que. After you pick your flavours & nut toppings, they will put it on the ‘cold stone’ (looks just like a chopping board), mix it up like a dough then scope it up to your cup. Ice cream is Ice cream. What can I say more? Sweet & cold

Taipei Wulai Snacks

There are plenty of fruits at Wulai, a stall full of bananas! Did not look ripe to me as it was really really green. Might these be wild bananas? Well I did not ask. But they have a huge banner promoting their guavas. It is green on the outside but it is pink in the inside. It’s not like we know orange, it is orange outside and orange inside as well. This is different.

We came by a little lorry stall selling fruits. They have more variety here, from apple, pamelo, bananas, and grapes too. But their grape is probably not wild pick as there is a brand packaging on it. At the center of the fruits, those packed up white long strips looks like sugar cane but I am just taking a guess. At first I had no idea what fruits are those green round one, some were turning yellow but not orange color, but it was already ripe inside. This green orange did taste like orange but less sour infact. If u peel the skin, the skin texture is like tangerine instead of oranges. Not bad. I should have bought more to eat for later.

Sweet potatoes, awesome! appearance wise, it did’t look so good, just like a big chuck of food, but its one of my favourite, this is the best potatos ever had… sweet & soft! Perfect!

Pink Guava, so pinky seems so sweet to be eaten, good for juicing but not to eat by itself straight. I bought this, end up spitting the seeds more than eating & enjoying the fruit. Its like they have millions of seeds. Not a good idea, so better you just get the ready made pink guava juice.  Save the spitting time.

Purple corns, Oh yeah I was so into it when I saw the purple corns, I thought it was unique and I felt I have get it. Unfortunately, it did't taste as well as I expected, it was really tough, it was not juicy, super dry. My most unfortunate purple corn in Taiwan

Roast Meat, did’t have that, just took the photo of it. Looks cold and been laying at the tray for some time.

Another street snack on the way. It’s the wild boar sausage, there was a que, but only about 5 people. It was worth it, I should have bought more instead of just one.

Another picture with the man in a white shirt, he’s making candy. He’s been stretching the candy for about 10 minutes, yet its not done yet. The candy dough is still hot while he stretches it, I could see his sweat drip, new flavor added into the candy. Can’t blame him because once the candy dough is cold, it will turn hard and you can no longer stretch it. So for this case, I did not buy any candy, as I did not want the new added ‘sweat’ flavor. Along the streets, there are many other shops for snacks & tidbits for sale.

Mass production of big steam boa, or some call it dumpling. If u think the taste is blend, splash some chili sauce on the meat for a slight spicy taste. Remember to peel off the skin before you eat them for hygiene sake.
