Taipei Wulai Snacks

There are plenty of fruits at Wulai, a stall full of bananas! Did not look ripe to me as it was really really green. Might these be wild bananas? Well I did not ask. But they have a huge banner promoting their guavas. It is green on the outside but it is pink in the inside. It’s not like we know orange, it is orange outside and orange inside as well. This is different.

We came by a little lorry stall selling fruits. They have more variety here, from apple, pamelo, bananas, and grapes too. But their grape is probably not wild pick as there is a brand packaging on it. At the center of the fruits, those packed up white long strips looks like sugar cane but I am just taking a guess. At first I had no idea what fruits are those green round one, some were turning yellow but not orange color, but it was already ripe inside. This green orange did taste like orange but less sour infact. If u peel the skin, the skin texture is like tangerine instead of oranges. Not bad. I should have bought more to eat for later.

Sweet potatoes, awesome! appearance wise, it did’t look so good, just like a big chuck of food, but its one of my favourite, this is the best potatos ever had… sweet & soft! Perfect!

Pink Guava, so pinky seems so sweet to be eaten, good for juicing but not to eat by itself straight. I bought this, end up spitting the seeds more than eating & enjoying the fruit. Its like they have millions of seeds. Not a good idea, so better you just get the ready made pink guava juice.  Save the spitting time.

Purple corns, Oh yeah I was so into it when I saw the purple corns, I thought it was unique and I felt I have get it. Unfortunately, it did't taste as well as I expected, it was really tough, it was not juicy, super dry. My most unfortunate purple corn in Taiwan

Roast Meat, did’t have that, just took the photo of it. Looks cold and been laying at the tray for some time.

Another street snack on the way. It’s the wild boar sausage, there was a que, but only about 5 people. It was worth it, I should have bought more instead of just one.

Another picture with the man in a white shirt, he’s making candy. He’s been stretching the candy for about 10 minutes, yet its not done yet. The candy dough is still hot while he stretches it, I could see his sweat drip, new flavor added into the candy. Can’t blame him because once the candy dough is cold, it will turn hard and you can no longer stretch it. So for this case, I did not buy any candy, as I did not want the new added ‘sweat’ flavor. Along the streets, there are many other shops for snacks & tidbits for sale.

Mass production of big steam boa, or some call it dumpling. If u think the taste is blend, splash some chili sauce on the meat for a slight spicy taste. Remember to peel off the skin before you eat them for hygiene sake.
