Again another meal in Ximen night
market. Had no idea what to have, so I just pop into one shop and had these. Photos
of Yellow noodles (far left). It looks abit yellow but it’s not the normal
yellow noodle we see usually have. This was more flour and the color was not
really yellow, it was abit white. The texture, I felt I was having rough flour
and non-elastic noodle. The sauce was salty, sort of peanut and mixed with
others ingredient. It was totally not delicious to me.
Next, vermicelli soup (top right) or
known as Beehoon soup. The vermicelli is different from the ones we usually
have, their texture is smoother and it has really really thin strands. It comes
with plain soup and some bean sprout. Even it was plain soup and simple but it
still tasted better than the yellow noodle earlier.
Going next, it’s a bowl of cuttle fish
(center bottom photo) with some sauce. How should I describe the sauce. You could
taste alittle salt and texture of sauce is gluey and starchy but it was nice. I
had no idea what it is called when I ordered it because I just showed them some
sign language and pointed at the dish.
Coming up, the most odd dish ever. The
top center photo. It came with orange color sauce. Wrapped inside the food was
some glass noodle. The sauce had sour taste just like I mentioned ‘orange’ but
it was not the sourness of the orange. Sauce texture was a little creamy yet salty
and sour. What in the world is that? I thought there was something wrong with
the food, but when I looked around, other tables were doing fine having this
exact orange dish. Guess there is no way I could complaint about this dish to
the owner, because it was me that felt it was odd, not others. There’s a
saying, “Different people have different taste”!
